Our Hauora workstream will always be the first hui in every term. Here are some notes from our term 2 hui with next steps on our journey.
What is happening in our different kura:
WBS: Te whare tapa wha and schoolwide Hauora
as a way of looking at staff Hauora reflective sheet
as a way of supporting tamariki Hauora
Working from our staff and developing ways of bringing the staff together, understanding their own hauora to be able to find strategies to support themselves . Staff reflective sheet to do this by recording and revisiting termly reflection of the different areas of Hauora through Te Whare Tapa Wha. Ongoing.
Beginning to use Te Whare Tapa Wha as a way of supporting our tamariki after returning to school from learning at home. Resources available to inform kaiako understanding of Te Whare Tapa Wha.
Central School: Hauora inquiry.
Following on from the Distressed or deliberately defiant PLD from early 2019, planning around Te Whare Tapa Wha to improve Hauora in their setting.
Looking into Pause - Breathe - Smile PLD
Developing a questionnaire to scan tamariki and whanau
Starting a case study of 5 tamariki and following their journey through school.
Creating workshops for whanau to support Hauora.
Total revamp of Charter through the Theory of Action.
Waimata Key points: Keynote share
Hauora and everything done is fluid and ever changing. It evolves as the need arises.
Doing and Being.
Doing - What you do changes.
Being - You stay the same.
Effective communication is the key. Developing a culture that allows for honest conversations.
Maintaining perspective.
Staying Centred - explained through the waka metaphor.
Waikino key points:
Focus on developing their Child centred Curriculum and ensuring it comes from the tamariki and driven by them.
Each class gets a day a week in the forest school to connect with nature.
Positive circles with thoughtful comments and positive affirmation.
Totally focused on the whole child (holistic).
Similar to Waimata with an evolving focus, depending on needs and the direction of the tamariki.
Looking at unpacking Te Whare Tapa Wha.
Waihi Kindy key points:
Breaking down social competencies to support the understanding and Hauora of tamariki.
Lots of positive language and looking from the positive constantly rather than the deficit way of thinking (i.e when developing tikanga, talking about what should be done rather than what should not be done).
Sharing their own life experiences and where they come from.
Looking at the philosophy of the setting and unpacking it to reflect on what it means for them.
Other points:
Always thinking about THE WHY.
