Kia ora Koutou katoa
I hope you all enjoyed a relaxing, rejuvenating and re connecting time with self, whanau and friends. What an amazing summer, aren’t we are so blessed to be living here in NZ with freedom to live life pretty much without restriction.
As I begin my journey as ASL, one that excites and makes me feel vulnerable and courageous, all at the same time, I thought it might be good to send you my presentation, as an insight to my intentions, commitment and absolute belief in the power of the collective and the amazing Kaiako and Kaihutū, we have in our community.
I’m a big picture…big vision kinda gal.
I believe anything is possible, challenge is change making and failure is just a reminder another way is always an option. Learning isn’t linear, it’s often messy, directions change, challenges take us by surprise and an expected outcome doesn’t always happen, but the power to rise up, dust ourselves off and keep going is absolutely in our DNA…we are in it for the outcome not the income 😊
I am acutely aware that my role is to serve the Kāhui Ako in the best way I can, and to do this my first step is to start with whanaungatanga, so would love to visit your Kohungahunga and Kura. My Kāhui Ako days are Thursday and Friday, so if it suits, I could ring and make a date and time just to catch up.
Kia pai te rā

Kia ora Kate, thanks for sharing this. Reading your presentation I could feel Te Whariki oozing out of your writing! What you have shared are also values that I share so I am looking forward to working with you this year. The quote you have on the last page of your presentation about "say yes and work out what you are doing later" really resonated with me as I think I fit exactly into that box - I can't say that about many boxes but that one I can :-) It was reassuring this afternoon at our Hui to hear other WSL say they aren't fully sure what their role is yet either. I don't feel so alone now!! So onwards and upwards with shared learning.
ReplyDeleteKia ora Sian, thank you for your kōrero, he waka eke noa, we are definitely all journeying together! Although our current state is uncertainty, it is a really good space to be in because that is where the real conversations emerge, just like you recently experienced at your Kura.
DeleteI truly believe the collaboration of kaiako is such a taonga and will definitely have positive ripples across the Kāhui Ako.
Here's to lots of shared learning, shared kōrero, and deeper connections for all of us
ngā mihi nui, Kate
