Today the WSL collective gathered for hui at Waikino Kura. This was a great opportunity to start the journey of building relationships, Whanaungatanga, and re connecting with the mahi that has been done thus far.
Suzie Gould our facilitator, presented an interactive and fun session, and judging from the energy in the room, there is a positive mindset about the possibilities and opportunities ahead of us.
I want to acknowledge the kaiako that have stepped up to this role and the expertise, wisdom and skills each bring to the table. You are the navigators of your kura's compass, not the map! Together with your colleagues you can decide a destination, but it is the many and varied routes that will lead to the transformational teaching and learning. We can all be change makers and culture shifters.
To the principals, your commitment to ensuring your WSL's are enabled to attend hui and be supported in this collective, is integral to building their capability and capacity to effect change and progress the vision of Kāhui Ako as a whole.
"Leadership is not about titles, status and power over people. Leaders are people who hold themselves accountable for recognising the potential in people and ideas, and developing that potential. When we dare to lead, we don't pretend to have the right answers; we stay curious and ask the right questions. We don't see power as finite and hoard it; we know that power becomes infinite when we share it and work to align authority and accountability. We don't avoid difficult conversations and situations; we lean into the vulnerability that's necessary to do good work. "

We must remember that the most important resource we have is each other...and definitely coffee and chocolate
ngā mihi nui, Kate
It was wonderful to be able to create a space where all our WSL's could gather to begin their collaborative journey together as they work to make a difference for their own kura and tamariki and across our kahui ako.
